Accident in Hart County leaves a pedestrian with serious injuries

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

An evening accident in Hart County has left a pedestrian with serious injuries and a truck driver facing charges for triggering a chain reaction of events.

A release from Georgia State Patrol indicates a 2004 Chevy Avalanche driven by 59-year old  Angela Dean of Anderson, South Carolina was traveling south on Georgia Route 8 in Hart County Wednesday after 8:20 p.m. when the driver attempted to turn onto Elizabeth Road.

Reports show Dean's truck lost part of its load just before a 2016 Toyota 4-Runner driven by 89-year old William White of Hart County was passing the same area, north on Georgia 8.

Police say White's vehicle struck a pedestrian who had exited their vehicle and was standing in the roadway helping the driver who lost the truckload.

70-year old Ray Burt of Hart County was transported from the scene to ANMED in Anderson South Carolina with serious injuries. His condition has not been released.

No other injuries were reported. Police say Dean was issued a citation for an unsecure load while White was not charged in the incident.
