A traffic stop in Hall County Thursday resulted in a man being charged with felony possession of methamphetamine.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said in a release a deputy initially stopped Johnny Ray Palmer,43, on Athens Hwy. near Pine Grove Rd. for a brake light violation. During the stop, the deputy reportedly discovered Palmer had a felony probation warrant from Jackson County. Palmer was placed in handcuffs and searched prior to being placed in the patrol vehicle.

The deputy found two bags in Palmer’s jacket, one allegedly containing less than one ounce of marijuana and the other allegedly containing about seven grams of methamphetamine.

Palmer was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
