A Murrayville man was arrested in a Thursday morning shooting in Hall County.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were called to the 6000 block of Ben Parks Road at 6:30 a.m. to reports of what was believed to be a burglary in progress. Once they arrived, deputies discovered a glass pane to the front door of the residence had been broken as the result of a bullet being fired through the door.
An initial investigation into the case revealed one of the adult residents of the home heard the doorbell ring and went to investigate when the gunshot was fired. The resident was not injured.
A K9 team was able to track the suspect, Canaan Joseph Doane, 18 to a residence not far from the scene. Investigators were able to determine through footage captured on a doorbell camera that he allegedly had gone to confront the resident. The two are believed to have had conflicts in the past.
Doane was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and criminal damage to property in the second degree. He remains in the Hall County Jail without bond. The investigation is ongoing.
