DAWSONVILLE, Ga. – Dawson County scored a program record 71 points Friday as they knocked off Johnson in Region 6-3A action, 71-0.
The Tigers led 23-0 after one quarter as Gunner Weaver linked up with Chatham Burnette twice in the period. After extending the lead to 36-0, defensive tackle Elijah Odom scored two defensive touchdowns in two straight plays, blocking a punt and scoring before getting a strip sack and score to push the lead out to 50-0.
Dawson County led 57-0 at halftime before scoring two touchdowns in the third quarter as freshman Brody Sorenson and Cash Watkins each found the endzone in the third period.
Weaver finished 9-for-10 through the air for 152 yards and four touchdowns.
The Tigers will play host to White County next week, while Johnson will return home to take on Lumpkin County.
