While the United States Postal Service (USPS) prides itself on delivering the mail through all types of conditions, even its distribution centers and carriers can be slowed by nature.
The USPS has recently announced service disruptions and delays to many smaller facilities in areas affected by Helene late last week. In northeast Georgia, nine smaller facilities are listed as temporarily suspended for operations "until further notice". Many are in the Habersham, Rabun and Stephens County areas.
The current list of suspended USPS centers listed as suspended on September 30 includes the following:
- Lakemont, 17 Lakemont Industrial Dr, 30552
- Tallulah Falls, 235 Main St., 30573
- Tiger, 3278 Old Hwy 441, 30576
- Wiley, 6089 Hwy 441 South, 30581
- Danielsville, 44 General Daniel Ave. S., 30633.
- Turnerville, 1083 Thacker Rd., 30580.
Services to centers in Baldwin and Carnesville were listed as suspended on September 28th, but did not appear on the recent USPS list noted above. Services may still be delayed to these centers and areas receiving service from their operations. You can view the USPS.
