The Georgia Department of Transportation awarded 10 projects in December 2023 for resurfacing, widening and reconstruction.
GDOT officials said the nearly $118 million award will fund bridge construction and safety projects across the state.
The single largest investment was valued at nearly $62 million and is a reconstruction project covering over 3 miles. The project will widen turn lanes, reconstruct turn lanes and improve operations on SR 9 from Windward Parkway to the Forsyth County line in Fulton County.
Bridge construction will take up 14% of funding with $16 million devoted to projects.
The largest project will be the construction of a 0.360-mile bridge near US 29/SR 8 over the Hudson River in Franklin and Madison counties.
GDOT said $3.7 million will be devoted to safety projects. One project will work to enhance intersections at multiple locations on SR 140 (Holcomb Bridge Road) and Spalding Drive (CR 1955) in Fulton and Gwinnett counties.
The GDOT award brings the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2024 to $1.08 billion.
