Baby Bell Candy Apples coming to downtown Flowery Branch

A new sweets shop is set to come to downtown Flowery Branch following a vote Thursday night by the Flowery Branch City Council.

The council approved a lease agreement for Baby Bell Candy Apples, LLC, at 5527 Main Street in Flowery Branch.

Gwen Bell, owner of Baby Bell Candy Apples, said they hope to open the shop by February ahead of Valentine's Day.

Bell said she and her husband started the business seven years ago based on childhood memories.

"We had just started dabbling with candy, and then everything just sparked from there," Bell said. "Once we started getting into it, we actually started putting a spin to it. I started making my homemade caramel, and then we started creating the different toppings."

Bell said their top seller is the cheesecake stuffed apple.

"We dip the apple in caramel and chocolate and we core out the middle and we stuff it with cheesecake dip and top it with Hershey syrup," Bell said.

The business has operated out of Bell's home up to this point. She said they began looking for a new location for the business as they looked to expand.

"We felt like Flowery Branch would be a good spot for us because that's where we started out when we started doing festivals," Bell said.

The lease agreement term is for five years.
