The Hall County School Board voted Monday night in favor of the presented 2024-2025 school year calendar, featuring an added break for students and teachers in February.
Hall County schools will kick off next year on Aug. 2, continuing the trend of starting school on a Friday. This year, schools opened their doors on Aug. 4, with a week and a half of teacher workdays and new teacher orientation prior to student's arrival.
“This calendar [2024-2025] is actually a pretty convenient calendar in that the days of the week work out pretty well,” Deputy Superintendent Kevin Bales said. “The big attribute of this calendar compared to this current year's calendar is it gives teachers a February break. Fall breaks have been pretty popular, and this calendar has a small fall break, but it also has a small spring break.”
The three-day break in February crosses over a weekend, running from Feb. 14 to 18, and stands in addition to the typical week-long spring break in April.
