The high school football scrimmage season is now in the books, and several Northeast Georgia teams mostly likely have a notebook full of specifics to work on as they head toward next week's season openers.
White County and East Forsyth went toe-to-toe at Broncos Field on Friday, and the Warriors varsity unit outscored East Forsyth's 14-7.
Tripp Nix rushed in for the go-ahead touchdown in the varsity's final and only drive of the third quarter.
East Forsyth's touchdown came in the open quarter after the Warriors intercepted a pass and fumbled into the endzone. EaFo fell on it for the first points of the game.
White County head coach Chad Bennett said he loved the energy of his defense.
"I mean super proud of the defense became ready to play love our energy," he said. "Love how we're tackling, running to the football ... a lot of good things. Offensively, you know it takes a while to get adjusted, and really honestly, coming out, we knew East would be a really good defense, and they've got some really good football players. And so, you know, overall, not not a bad first half."
As for East Forsyth, head coach Brian Allison said the offense has to be more consistent.
"We're not moving the ball the way we are capable of it," he said. "We gotta be better on offense."
