A Suwanee motorcyclist has been charged after a fatal wreck in Duluth on July 13.
The Duluth Police Department said in a social media post Taylor Kratzer, 34, of Suwanee, was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, speeding, improper lane change and tag to be displayed for the death of Thomas Eurell, 42.
The agency said the incident happened at about 6:15 p.m. on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard near the road's intersection with Rogers Bridge Road.
Kratzer was reportedly driving a motorcycle northbound on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at high speeds while making erratic lane changes when an SUV turned left in front of it. Kratzer attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful. The motorcycle collided with the SUV, causing Kratzer to separate from the bike.
The bike then struck Eurrell on the east side of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, resulting in fatal injuries. Kratzer was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
The agency said witness statements and video footage determined the motorcycle was speeding at over 100 miles per hour prior to the incident.
Police did not release an update on Kratzer's condition or whether he had been arrested.
