Construction of a new bridge crossing over Chestatee River connecting Dawson and Hall Counties has been completed sooner than originally anticipated.
Constructed in 1956, the original Chestatee River Bridge no longer met modern bridge specifications, prompting the need for a new bridge to be constructed.
Scott Bridge Company, LLC is responsible for the new 482-foot-long bridge, replacing its 67-year-old counterpart that was also completely removed during the project. The newly constructed bridge consists of two 12-foot lanes with 8-foot shoulders. The approach roadway consists of two 12-foot lanes with a 10-foot shoulder. The approximate project length is 0.4 miles and is located on the Dawson/Hall County line with a signed speed of 55 mph.
Construction for the project began in October 2021 and the bridge officially opened to traffic in February 2023. Scott Bridge Company LLC completed the contract in May 2023, two months before the July 31, 2023 contract date.
