In a late afternoon incident Friday, Hall County Fire Rescue responded to reports of an overturned 18-wheeler on Athens Highway at Roy Park. The truck, transporting approximately 96 pounds of frozen chicken, suffered an accident resulting in minor diesel leakage.
According to Hall County Fire Public Information Officer Kimberly Ledsinger, HCFR arrived around 4:00 p.m. and worked to contain the leak and prevent further hazards. The driver managed to exit the vehicle unharmed.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver's condition is currently reported as stable.
Crews remain at the scene alongside a wrecker service to overturn the 18-wheeler and clear the affected area. Southbound traffic on Athens Highway experienced temporary delays due to the accident.
