The California man who was arrested after being found with a missing Oakwood teenager in a College Park hotel last month is now facing a rape charge.

College Park Police Major Lance Patterson confirmed Thursday that Christopher Sarabia of Los Angeles, California is facing one felony count of statutory rape in the case.

Monday evening, three Oakwood Police officers were recognized at an Oakwood City Council meeting for their efforts in helping find the 14-year-old girl. She was reported as a runaway on May 13th after her family told police she had been gone for several hours.

Oakwood officers investigated before determining that the girl was at a hotel with a man in College Park. College Park officers then went to the hotel and found the girl with Sarabia. Sarabia was arrested and the girl was returned to her parents.

Sarabia bonded out of the Fulton County Jail on May 22 on $40,000 bond. The case remains under investigation.
