Authorities: Two people killed in Wednesday morning wreck in Banks County

The two people who were killed in a single-vehicle wreck Wednesday morning in Banks County have been identified by authorities.

The Georgia State Patrol reports officers were dispatched to U.S. 441 near Banks Road in Banks County at about 6:25 a.m. where they found a vehicle overturned and lying on the driver's side.

Troopers identified the victims as Kiran Mehta, 36 and Leslie Batson, 39, both of Warner Robins

Mehta was allegedly attempting to negotiate a curve in the roadway and failed to maintain the lane. The vehicle ran off the road into an embankment and flipped multiple times.

Both occupants were not wearing safety belts and were ejected from the vehicle.

They were unresponsive when EMS arrived at the scene and died from their injuries. 

 

As of 8:19 a.m. Wednesday:

Two people were killed in a car accident Wednesday morning on U.S. 441 in Banks County.

The Banks County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post at about 7 a.m. U.S. 441 at Banks Road was temporarily closed to northbound traffic due to the crash. All northbound traffic reopened just before 9 a.m.

Few details were available, but Georgia State Patrol dispatch confirmed to AccessWDUN just after 8 a.m. that two people were killed in the accident.
