A woman from Alto was arrested Friday in Floyd County in connection with an illegal drug drop at Lee Arrendale State Prison on May 24.

According to a press release from the Habersham County Sheriff's Office, Leticia Erika Perry, 28, of Summerville, was arrested by the Floyd County Sheriff's Office and was taken to the Habersham County Detention Center, where she was booked late Friday.

Authorities had been searching for Perry since the incident. They previously arrested Devonte Jenkins, 26, for his alleged involvement in the incident.

The Sheriff's Office told AccessWDUN in May the two allegedly threw drugs over the fence at the state prison at about 4 a.m.

"When confronted by an officer, the driver attempted to run the officer over and then there was a continued exchange there," Spokesman Rob Moore said.

Perry allegedly rammed a Georgia Department of Corrections vehicle being driven by an officer who was attempting to stop them from leaving. The corrections officer suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

Perry and  Jenkins fled the scene on foot after wrecking their vehicle.

Perry is charged with aggravated assault, criminal interference with government property, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, failure to report an accident, seatbelt violation, and driving while license suspended or revoked.

Mountain Judicial Circuit Judge B. Chan Caudell denied bond for Perry on the charges during a first appearance hearing Monday morning.
