The Hall County Sheriff's Office arrested a Gainesville man Thursday morning after a shooting incident that injured another man during an argument.
According to a press release from the agency, the shooting happened at about 12:30 a.m. outside a home on Forest Circle.
Deputies responded to the home after receiving a report of a man being shot in the chest. The victim, Rigoberto D. Medrano, 50, of Gainesville, was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators determined the suspect, Abraham E. Trujillo, 46, also of Gainesville, allegedly pointed a handgun at Medrano during their argument. The two then got into a physical altercation and the gun discharged, striking Medrano. Trujillo left the scene in an SUV after the incident.
Hall County Deputies and an Oakwood Police Officer spotted Trujillo's vehicle on Dawsonville Highway, stopped it and arrested Trujillo without incident. He was charged with aggravated assault and was being booked at the Hall County Jail as of Thursday morning.
The case remains under investigation.
