GBI appoints Gainesville woman to a post with the state's Crime Information Center

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Wednesday the appointment of Gainesville resident Melissa Casto-Mefferd to Assistant Deputy Director of the Georgia Crime Information Center. 

A release from GBI Director Mike Register's office said that Casto-Mefferd will be responsible for overseeing the Criminal Justice Information Services' operations, its Compliance Program, and its Integrated Data Center.

She has a combined 26 years of law enforcement experience.

Her experience includes 15 years with Federal Bureau of Investigation, within their Criminal Justice Information Services Division working on the Eric Rudolph Fugitive-Olympic Bombing Task Force.

Casto-Mefferd graduated from Wesleyan College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and from Columbus State University with a Master’s degree in Public Safety Administration.

She also graduated from the Columbus State Law Enforcement Executive Command College.
