Forsyth County Animal Shelter waives summer adoption fees

The Forsyth County Animal Shelter Thursday announced it will be waiving all pet adoption fees until Sept. 6 as part of their “Summer of Love” program.

The shelter is hosting a beach-themed adoption event all summer long from May 26 until Sept 6. This year marks the fifth annual “Summer of Love” adoption event, where the normal $85 adoption fee will be completely waived for all animals.

Included in adoptions are microchipping, spaying/neutering and age-appropriate vaccinations, according to information provided by the shelter.

“We are very excited to give residents a chance to adopt a pet at no cost,” Animal Shelter Manager Cindy Iacopella said. “All of the pets in the shelter deserve a good home and we are hopeful that this promotion will help families bring a new companion home this summer.”

The Forsyth County Animal Shelter provides animal adoptions from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Located at 4056 County Way, the shelter is just off Ga. 400 in North Forsyth.

The shelter is the only open-admission shelter in Forsyth County and is dedicated to “rescuing, reuniting, and rehoming animals.” They never turn away an animal, regardless of breed, age, condition or temperament, according to their online mission statement. Local residents also have the opportunity to volunteer with or foster animals from the shelter.
