A Gainesville man is in jail and facing several charges after authorities said he broke into vehicles in Buford last week.

Hall County Sheriff's Office officials said Jonathan Clyde Smith, age 37, was arrested just after midnight Friday morning after his vehicle was spotted by a deputy in the area of Grandview Parkway and J.M. Turk Road in Flowery Branch. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Hall County Jail.

Authorities said several vehicles were broken into in the 1400 block of Parkway Court in Buford on the morning of April 27. Investigators said they later identified Smith and his vehicle when he allegedly tried to use a credit card stolen from one of the vehicles at a Gainesville business.

Smith faces four felony counts of entering auto to commit theft. He remains in the county jail on more than $22,000 bond.
