Anjana Freeman, the coordinator of the Gainesville Police Department's mental health clinicians program, discusses how the program has affected  how police handle people who are in mental crisis. She also discusses how the program has grown and how officers have adapted to the program.

Freeman was the first guest in the Mind Matters series each Wednesday in May. The series looks at community efforts to help people with mental illness get the treatment the need.

Freeman appeared on WDUN's "Newsroom" on Wednesday, May 3.
