Investigators announced Tuesday morning they believe a fire set Monday night on Burning Bush Drive outside Alto was set intentionally, and they are now offering a reward for information in the case.
According to Rob Moore, public information officer with Habersham County Emergency Services, crews were dispatched to the scene just outside the Baldwin and Alto city limits just after 6 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found a destroyed Toyota pickup truck and other items around it outside a mobile home.
911 callers reported hearing what sounded like explosions at the time of the fire, which investigators said was likely the tires blowing on the truck as it burned.
No injuries were reported in the incident, and the property was turned over to the resident just before 9 p.m.
The Georgia Arson Control Board offers a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person or persons responsible for arson and/or fraud.
