Friday marks the end of the regular season for most Northeast Georgia-area soccer teams, with just a handful of matches next week before the playoffs begin on April 11.
Most area teams already know their playoff fate, but there are still several monster matches on tap Friday that could decide just how far some teams can advance through the playoffs.
The biggest match is by far the showdown between the Class 4A No. 1-ranked Johnson boys ad No. 4 East Hall at The Dungeon. The winner will take the Region 8-4A crown giving them possible home matches throughout the entirety of the playoffs.
The defending Class 5A state champion Knights (15-0, 9-0 Region 8-4A) are working on a 21-match win streak going back to last season. They have allowed just four goals all season. The 2022 Class 4A state-runner up Vikings (12-2, 8-1 Region 8-4A) have won eight straight and only allowed three goals in that span. It also may not be the last time they see each other. Expect a huge crowd at The Dungeon and plenty of playoff atmosphere.
The Flowery Branch girls (13-3, 3-2 Region 8-5A) travel to Eastside (6-6-3, 3-2 Region 8-5A) with third place on the line in Region 8-5A.
