Boys soccer: Johnson, East Hall set up 8-4A title showdown; Lakeview gets region win over GWA

RABBITTOWN, Ga. — The East Hall boys rolled to a 10-0 win over North Hall at East Hall Stadium on Tuesday, setting up a Region 8-4A title showdown at Johnson on Friday.

Fabian Holguin started the scoring in the 8th minute, and it continued through the first half for an 8-0 score after the first 40 minutes. The Vikings (12-2, 8-1) scored two goals in the first four minutes of the second half to end the game via the mercy rule.

Jonathan Torres scored four first-half goals (16', 18', 21', 27'). Fabian Holguin (8'), Yerli Mejia (9'), Amado Valladarez (11'), and Miguel Dominguez (34') all scored in the half. 

In the second half, the Vikings picked up right where they left off, with Gerardo Marban (41') and Eden Castrejon (44') scoring quickly to end the game at 10-0.

Amado Valladarez recorded seven assists on the night.

The Class 4A No. 1-ranked Knights pulled away from the Titans to help set up a one-match showdown with East Hall on friday for the Region 8-4A title.

The Knights (15-0, 9-0 Region 8-4A) will play host to No. 4 East Hall (12-2, 8-1 Region 8-4A) on Friday at The Dungeon. Both teams, regardless of the outcome, have scured home playoff games in the first round.

Johnson (15-0, 9-0 Region 8-4A) broke a scoreless tie late in the first half on a Julian Pimentel goal off a beautiful pass from Jorge Sandoval. Edgar Vazquez made it 2-0 on penalty kick after Alex Gonzalez got fouled inside the box.

Jalil Chávez put the finishing touches on the shutout win with a goal 14 minutes into the second half.

Kristian Hernandez recorded his 11th shutout of the season getting plenty of help from his defense. Johnson defenders Landon Avalos, Miguel Duran, Andres Galicia and Josue Mendoza all helped keep the Titans (8-5, 7-3 Region 8-4A) off the board.

North Oconee will be the No. 4 seed from Region 8-4A in the upcoming state playoffs.

Liam Weidner scored two goals and dished out an assist to help lead the No. 8 Lions (5-4-1, 3-0 GIAA) past George Walton at home on Tuesday.

Bryan Ramsey and Jay Dave added one goal and one assist apiece, while Dillon Mulka assisted Noah Vetter on a goal. Frisco Johnson added one goal in the win.  

William Harrison recorded the win in goal.
