Boys soccer: No. 8 Gainesville rallies to beat Shiloh

By AccessWDUN Staff

SNELLVILLE, Ga. — Ozmar Marceleno scored two goals, including the eventual game-winner with 10 minutes left, to lift Gainesville to a thrilling 2-1 win over Shiloh in a crucial Region 8-6A on Thursday.

The win for the Class 6A eighth-ranked Red Elephants (11-2, 7-1 Region 8-6A) kept them in second place and just one-half game of fourth-ranked Lanier. The Longhorns (11-0-1, 7-0 Region 8-6A) will take on Habersham Central on Friday in Mt. Airy.

Gainesville, however, had to fight from behind as the Generals (1-9-1, 1-7 Region 8-6A) scored first in the 15th minute. It would stay that way until Marceleno tied it at 1 just before the half.

The Red Elephants had some solid opportunities in the second half but could not find the net until Marceleno struck in the 70th minute.

Hector Aguilar and Kevin Zuniga each had one assist for Gainesville.
