Sautee Nacoochee woman killed in White County wreck

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio

A Sautee Nacoochee woman died as a result of a single-vehicle accident Friday morning in White County.

Troopers with Georgia State Patrol responded just before 10 a.m. to the wreck on Duncan Bridge Road. The investigating Trooper observed a single vehicle overturned on its right side in a ditch and the driver ejected from the rear hatch window.

The Georgia State Patrol identified the driver as Barbara Ann Crews, 84, of Sautee Nacoochee.

The state patrol said a preliminary crash investigation and witness statements determined Crews was traveling east on SR-384 when she failed to maintain her lane while traveling around a curve.

Crews' vehicle traveled off the south shoulder of the roadway where it struck a ditch. After the impact with the ditch, the vehicle struck a tree and overturned.

The next of kin has been notified and the accident is still under investigation.
