Most Northeast Georgia-area soccer teams will have some huge region matches on Tuesday.
The Class 7A No. 1-ranked Buford girls will play host to No. 7 Mill Creek in the first early battle for first place in Region 8-7A. The Lady Wolves (6-1, 1-0 Region 8-7A) have won six straight and allowed just two total goals in that span. The Lady Hawks (4-0-1, 1-0 Region 8-7A) have outscored their opponents 20-1 on the season, including pitching three consecutive shutouts coming into the match.
In Region 8-6A on the boys side, No. 5 Gainesville travels to No. 6 Lanier with first place on the line. The Red Elephants (7-1, 3-0 Region 8-6A) have won four straight while the Longhorns (7-0-1, 3-0 Region 8-6A) have won five straight.
On the girls side in Region 8-6A, Jackson County (5-3, 4-0 Region 8-6A) will try to remain in first place and as the only unbeaten team in the region playing host to Apalachee (0-5-1, 0-3 Region 8-6A). The Shiloh (4-3-1, 3-1 Region 8-6A) and Habersham Central girls (5-2, 2-1 Region 8-6A) will battle it out for second place in Mt. Airy.
In Region 8-A Division 1, the No. 2-ranked Commerce girls (4-1, 3-0 Region 8-A Division 1) will travel to Elbert County (3-2, 2-1 Region 8-A Division 1) hoping to put some distance between the two teams for first place
