The Habersham County Sheriff's Office arrested a Mount Airy man Saturday who was wanted on an outstanding child molestation charge.
According to Rob Moore, public information officer with the agency, Shannon Robert Burton, 35, was located in a medical facility seeking treatment. Deputies were able to arrest Burton following his release from the facility.
Burton's arrest came after the Habersham County Sheriff's Office posted an alert on social media Thursday, in which they asked the public for information leading to Burton's location.
Moore said help from the public received after issuing the alert revealed Burton's location to authorities.
Investigators alleged the child involved was known to Burton and that the inappropriate conduct took place over at least a two-year period.
He was booked into the Habersham County Detention Center in Clarkesville following his arrest. He remained there as of Monday morning on a $16,600 bond.
