Suwanee man arrested after crashing into a police car

Gwinnett County Police arrested a Suwanee man Thursday night after he crashed into a police car and injured a police officer on I-85 north near the Pleasant Hill Road exit.
 
According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, an officer was in her car while working a five-car accident on I-85 when Vanallen Cooley, 35, crashed into her at about 9 p.m.
 
Two other patrol cars, two tow trucks and an MCCD officer were also on the scene with their emergency lights on at the time of the incident. The HOV and the left lane were shut down.
 
The police officer suffered a head injury and was transported to a local hospital.
 
None of the drivers involved in the original accident, other officers, or tow truck drivers were injured. Cooley did not have any injuries and both vehicles were disabled in the crash.
 
Cooley was arrested on the scene and is charged with following too close, driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of an open alcohol container, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, driving without a valid license and failure to register a vehicle in Georgia.
