Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) contractors will implement daytime lane closures on I-85 northbound and southbound for final asphalt paving work for the project’s completion.
Starting today, for approximately four weeks, single lane closures will be permitted on I-85 between State Route 11/US 129 and US 441.
Work will block at least one lane of 85 northbound each weekday between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and on 85 southbound between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. weekdays, so commuters are reminded to expect some delays during peak travel hours.
Additional center- and right- or left-lane closures may occur at night to allow for paving of the middle lane in either direction.
The exact time may change due to weather conditions. Before heading out, Georgia DOT says you can get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
The information from Georgia DOT's media release on Monday morning also notes that additional project information is available at I-85 Widening, Phase III Design-Build Project.
