SUWANEE, Ga. — The Class 4A No. 8 Cherokee Bluff girls improved to 3-0 on the road after taking an impressive 2-0 win over Class 7A Lambert on Tuesday on the road.
The Lady Bears (4-1) led 1-0 at halftime on a goal from Genesis Gamez just 11 minutes into the match. From there, the defense of Ellie Sutulovich, Sophie Recinella, Abigail Essex, Addison Dovie, and Carson DeMars helped keeper Avery Fowler finish the shutout.
However, the Lady Longhorns (1-2-1) had several chances to tie the match before Alyssa Stringer sealed it with a goal with just five minutes left. Amelia Dovie assisted on both Bluff goals.
Cherokee Bluff next will travel to Class 6A 10th-ranked Habersham Central (3-0) on Friday in a big Copa 985 showdown in Mt. Airy.

The Lady Knights (2-2) won their second straight Copa 985 match with a dominating performance on the road.
Liz Rivera led the Knights with a hat trick while Genevieve Aguilar had 2 goals and an assist for Johnson. Nancy Torres added a goal and 2 assists and Aaliyah Godina and Gisselle Garcia each finished with a goal and an assist for the Lady Knights. Skylar Robinson and Joana Marban both scored once for Johnson.
The Lady Knights will play host to Class 7A Meadowcreek on Friday.

The Class 4A second-ranked Knights stayed unbeaten in Copa 985 league action and on the season with a blowout win over their arch-rivals on Tuesday.
Kristian Hernandez posted the shutout in goal while Ramon Aguilar paced the offense with a hat trick. Juliann Pimentel, Jalil Chávez and Daniel Trujillo each scored once for Johnson (4-0).
Andy Robles, David Arteaga and Jorge Sandoval all had one assist for the Knights.
The Knights will play host to Class 7A Meadowcreek in The Dungeon on Friday.
