Teenager arrested after high-speed chase in Franklin County

A teenager was arrested after a high-speed chase with Georgia State troopers Monday evening on Interstate 85 in Franklin County.

According to a press release from the Georgia State Patrol, a trooper attempted to stop a Kia Telluride being driven by Caylin Jalea Bell, 19, of Ellenwood, at about 9:15 p.m. This came after the trooper reportedly spotted the car traveling 98 mph in a 70 mph zone on I-85 southbound near mile marker 168.

Bell allegedly refused to pull over for the trooper, continuing about 7.5 miles on I-85 southbound. The trooper conducted a successful PIT maneuver around mile marker 161.5. Bell surrendered and was placed under arrest.

Troopers then learned a three-year-old child was in the rear passenger's side of the vehicle and her child seat was not properly secured. The child was medically evaluated by Franklin County Emergency Services and released to her grandparents' custody.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Bell was charged with multiple traffic charges, including felony fleeing or attempting to elude.
