Commerce woman seriously injured in Oakwood pedestrian accident

A woman from Commerce was seriously injured after she was hit by a vehicle Monday afternoon in Oakwood.

The Georgia State Patrol said in a press release that the incident happened before 6:30 p.m. Monday on Thurmon Tanner Parkway, south of Mundy Mill Road.

Cheryl Sckupakus, 62, of Commerce, was reportedly attempting to cross the roadway from the west side of Thurmon Tanner Parkway when she was hit by a Chrysler Sebring.

Sckupakus suffered serious injuries, while the driver of the Chrysler was uninjured.

Sckupakus was cited for not yielding while crossing a roadway with no crosswalk.
