GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Miguel Galaviz scored two second-half goals to help the Gainesville boys rally for 3-1 win over Morgan County at City Park Stadium on Friday night.

The Bulldogs had taken a 1-0 lead into halftime, scoring on their only shot of the half. But the Red Elephants (2-0) got their offense going in the second.

Galaviz tied the game off an assist from Ozmar Marceleno. Gainesville later took the lead when Kelvin Diaz found the net off a nice pass from Hector Aguilar.

Galaviz added the cushion late with his second goal off an assist from Antonio Turcios.

Gainesville outshot Morgan 23-2 for the match.

The Red Elephants will next travel to Chestatee on Tuesday in a Copa 985 match at the Lynn Cottrell Complex.

Johsnon improved to 2-0 on the season as well, taking down the Falcons in a Copa 985 match.

A David Arteaga goal from a through ball from Andres Galicia in the first half gave Knights a 1-0 halftime lead. Ramon Aguilar scored early in the second half off an assist from Christian Robles to push their to 2-0 before Branch scored to cut the lead to 2-1.

Aguilar scored again late in the match off an assist from Josue Mendoza for the final score.

The Knights are off until next Friday, when they will play host arch-rival Gainesville at The Dungeon in their annual battle, which is also part of the Copa 985 league play.

The Falcons (0-1) will travel to East Hall on Tuesday in another Copa 985 match as well.

EAST HALL BOYS 1,
HABERSHAM CENTRAL 0 (5-4) PK

The Vikings got their first win of the season, holding off the Raiders in penalty kicks.

The game stayed tied at 0-0 all the way through regulation and overtime. East Hall’s Eden Castrejon and Orlin Yanes both nearly scored in the first half after hitting the crossbar. But that would be the best chances for either team as both keepers were outstanding in goal.

In the penalty kicks, both teams went 4-of-5, sending the match to sudden death.

East Hall keeper Wilber Bernal blocked the Habersham penalty, and Javier Sanchez scored on his attempt to give the Vikings the victory.

For the COPA 985, the match will count as a draw since only regulation is counted for the standings.

East Hall (1-1) will next play host to Flowery Branch at home on Tuesday in a Copa 985 match.

Habersham Central (0-2) is off until traveling to Apalachee next Friday to open its Region 8-6A schedule.
