A weekend structure fire in Dawson County heavily damages a local restaurant.

Dawson County Emergency Services responded to a reported structure fire on Saturday night at approximately 10;30 p.m.

A release from Dawson County Chief Troy Leist says their crews arrived minutes later to find heavy smoke and fire from the rear of the building occupied by the operators of Ruby's Recipes restaurant.

Safety crews were to confine the fire to the kitchen area while Chief Leist says the rest of the structure sustained moderate heat and smoke damage.

The fire is currently under investigation.  No injuries have been reported.

Cheif Leist also added that their department officials have read the social media reports claiming that the building exploded.  Leist says those reports are false.

While operating at the fire, Dawson safety crews heard a loud boom which was similar to a sonic boom but was unlreated to the fire, coming from an unknown source.
