Mill Creek scored late to get past Buford, 31-24, while Cherokee Bluff was stunned by Walnut Grove, 21-16. Elbert County held Rabun County without a touchdown for most of the night in a 21-9 win for the Blue Devils, setting up a big matchup next week in the Granite Bowl with Commerce, who won 39-0 over Athens Christian.
Gainesville rolled over Habersham Central, 49-7, while Jefferson took another step toward a region title with a 41-17 win over surging Flowery Branch. North Hall overcame a slow offensive start to take down Chestatee, 27-0.
In region 7-3A, White County took down West Hall, 38-7, while Wesleyan escaped Dawson County with a 21-20 win over the Tigers.
