Football: Dawson County loses heartbreaker to Wesleyan

By AccessWDUN Staff

DAWSONVILLE, Ga. – A furious comeback by Dawson County fell short Friday night as Wesleyan won another nailbiter in region 7-3A, 21-20, at Tiger Stadium.

Trailing 21-14 in the third quarter, the Tigers found a lot of success in the running game but saw long drives stall deep in Wesleyan territory. Dom LeBlanc nailed a pair of field goals to get the score to 21-20.

The Tiger defense stood strong, giving the offense a chance to drive late in the fourth, but a Wesleyan interception ended the momentum, giving the Wolves the close win.

Preston Bannister rushed for a team-high 113 yards and a touchdown while throwing for 72 more yards. Blake Arp rushed for 84 yards on 15 touches, getting a touchdown of his own along the way.

The Tigers will be at Gilmer next week.
