Habersham County holds groundbreaking for new public safety radio system

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Groundbreaking ceremonies are complete for Habersham County's new Public Safety Radio System.

Tuesday's ceremony marked the beginning of work on Habersham's approved, $9.65 million system through more than $7.2 million from the County's SPLOST tax of 1 cent.

The remaining $2.45 million will come from ARPA funds already earmarked within Habersham County's capital fund.

Completion of the P-25 Public Safety Radio System is expected by 2025, with work on several radio tower sites throughout the area already underway.
