The Hall County Tax Assessors Office is returning to its original location on the first floor of the government center following a year-long HVAC renovation project.
The tax assessors office returned to the first floor of the government center last Friday. According to a press release from the Hall County government, the location has been undergoing a series of renovations focused on heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. While the project is reportedly not quite finished, improvements are far enough along to allow the assessors to resume work in their usual location.
“County maintenance staff, MIS and contractors ensured minimal disruptions to service throughout this project, however, we are excited to return to our original space, where the public is familiar with finding us and we function most effectively,” said Hall County Chief Appraiser Steve Watson.
The new HVAC system is replacing a 25-year-old system that has been ruled obsolete. According to officials, the new system will provide an impressive level of energy savings for the county.
“Upgrading the HVAC system was a necessary improvement but also one that will provide a more efficient and comfortable building for visitors and staff while significantly cutting energy costs,” said Assistant County Administrator Katie Crumley in a press release. “Testing and balancing the new system is still in progress, but we’re grateful the construction phase of the project is complete.”
Renovations were handled by Trane — a global provider of indoor comfort solutions and services. They completed ceiling and grid tile replacements, new lighting and modernization upgrades and renovated the HVAC system. Officials said the project cost $9.5 million and was funded by the SPLOST VIII initiative, which was approved by the Board of Commissioners in January 2021.
