Habersham County Schools Superintendent Matthew Cooper announced that the school system will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
The school system decided to delay operations after consulting with a meteorologist, who warned officials about the possibility of heavy fog and storms Wednesday morning.
“We cannot recall a time when we have had dense fog mixed with heavy rain and storms,” a press release from the school system reads. “Our concern is for our school buses being able to navigate safely in the morning. The two-hour delay will allow school buses and student drivers to deal with these unusual conditions in the daylight. Without a delay, our buses would have to deal with both the fog and storms in darkness.”
