Sunday marked the 21st anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, and many Americans paused to observe Patriots Day and remember the victims and the heroes of that day.
“We do have a lot of young people who have grown up after 9/11 and won't experience the things that we did before that were impacted by that,” said State Rep. Victor Anderson. “But it's important that they understand why they understand that what it takes to be the greatest nation on the face of the earth.”
Standing before a group of emergency personnel, Anderson spoke Sunday during a brief 9/11 observance in Clarkesville.
For veteran public safety personnel, the memories of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America are still vivid memories.
Habersham County Emergency Services Battalion Chief Dwight McNally is one of those who remembers.
“It's a day that we try to remember the events that happened on 9/11,” McNally said. “They are such a tragedy and there was such a large loss of life. We all know that it's just a day that it really weighs hard on our hearts all public safety.”
McNally participated in ceremonies in the county Sunday, including one at the Chattahoochee Mountain Fair.
