A single-engine plane crashed into Lake Hartwell about 12:30 Saturday, the Federal Aviation Administration reports.
Only the pilot was on board the Beechcraft B55.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate, with additional updates forthcoming from the NTSB.
Neither agency identifies people involved in aircraft incidents.
