Georgia State Patrol (GSP) officials say a 4 vehicle crash during their pursuit of a wreckless driver has led to the arrest of a South Carolina man from Monday afternoon in Hart County.

A press release from the GSP says at approximately 4:30 p.m. on June 17, the Hart County Sheriff’s Office and Anderson, South Carolina Police department requested help in pursuing a 2011 Hyundai Sonata driven by 30-year old Donnie Ray Holcombe, Jr. of Iva, South Carolina, along Georgia Route 8.

As pursuit approached Hartwell's city limits, GSP says Holcombe's vehicle continued  with reckless disregard of surroundings on GA-8 westbound through a red traffic signal before colliding with a 2023 Ford Expedition, a 2022 Ford Explorer and a 2004 Mitsubishi Diamante before stopping by SR-29.

Holcombe was arrested and transported to St. Mary’s Sacred Heart in Lavonia with non-life-threatening injuries.  A passenger in Holcombe's car, 21-year old Chastity Hannah Gentry of Anderson, South Carolina was lifeflighted to Greenville Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.  The driver of the Expedition, 26-year old Molly Byrun Tucker of Hartwell reportedly is pregnant and was transported for precautionary measures to St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens while the driver of the Explorer, 69-year old Terrell Dwayne Partain of Hart County was transported to AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, South Carolina with non-life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the Diamante was not hurt.

Donnie Ray Holcombe, Jr. now faces several charges that include felony fleeing and serious injury by vehicle.
