Gwinnett County K9 Sika makes her 1st apprehension

Gwinnett County Police K9, Sika, made her first apprehension during the arrest of 22-year-old Nicholas Shaun Rohrer of Winder, on Monday, July 18.  

 

K9 Sika, the newly added Hound Dog to the Gwinnett Police K9 unit, was able to locate Rohrer hiding in an old chicken coop according to police.  He was wanted by Barrow County Sheriffs after he led them on a vehicle pursuit. 

 

Rohrer entered Gwinnett County and caused a hit and run with severe injuries on state route 316 and Drowning Creek.  He then drove the vehicle down Drowning Creek to Whitely Road, where the car stopped working.  Three people in the car fled, two of them were located by the Gwinnett Aviation Unit in the surrounding area.  S.R. 316 was shut down for more than 3 hours during this pursuit.  

 

Rohrer is charged with hit and run resulting in serious injury or death, willful obstruction of law enforcement officers, failure to obey a stop sign and driving without a valid license.
