The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office will host its 4th annual Thanksgiving Food Giveaway on Nov. 7.
The Agency will provide food items to prepare a Thanksgiving meal to those in need from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. The event is hosted in partnership with Volunteer Gwinnett and the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Food Ministry. Gwinnett County Sheriff Keybo Taylor says the department aims to address food insecurity within the community ahead of the holidays.
“Each year, this event has grown, and we're hoping to see it grow again this year,” Sheriff Taylor said. “...when we started it, there were a lot of people coming in right out of covid, [in] 2021 we were still dealing and battling with the effects and the aftermath of Covid. So, that was one of the things that, along with our annual Back to School Bash giveaway, we were just trying to make things a little bit lighter and easier for folks.”
Sheriff Taylor said the event was able to feed over 4,000 people in 2023.
Gwinnett County located at 2405 Sugarloaf Parkway, in Lawrenceville. Supplies are given on a first come-first serve basis.
