Authorities release name of man killed in accident at Cottrell in Gainesville

The Hall County Sheriff's Office on Monday released the name of a man who died in an accident Friday at Cottrell, Inc., in Gainesville.

Thi Ngoc Hoang, 52, of Gainesville was killed in a Friday morning accident at the facility on Candler Road.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office said Hoang had already died by the time a deputy arrived at the scene. Witnesses told the deputy workers were pushing a semi-truck out of a bay at Cottrell when the victim's foot became trapped under the wheel. He could not get free from the truck and was eventually run over and crashed.

Hall County Sheriff's Office criminal investigators spoke to witnesses and later determined the death was accidental.

A death Friday at Cottrell, Inc. in Gainesville has led to an investigation from local and federal officials.

Sgt. Ryan Daly, public information officer with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, said the death appeared to be accidental. The sheriff's office is withholding additional information until the victim's family can be notified of the death.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also investigating. AccessWDUN has reached out to OSHA for more information.

Cottrell, located on Candler Road, manufactures commercial trailers.
