No. 18 Nighthawks clinch spot in Super Regional

HICKORY, N.C. — The No. 18 University of North Georgia softball team defeated Wingate, 4-1, Saturday, securing a berth in the Southeast Super Regional on Thursday.

Madison Simmons kept the hot bats going for the Nighthawks in the first with a solo shot before Mallory Parker singled in the third to score a second run and push the lead to 2-0.

Hannah Forehand scored two more in the sixth off her second homer of the weekend, plating Parker and pushing the lead to 4-1. The Bulldogs homered in the seventh with their first and only hit of the game.

NOTES
- Kristen Davis (16-4) threw the complete game, going perfect through 6.1 before finishing the one hitter with a flyout and groundout.

- Simmons and Parker were each 2-for-3 in the game.

- With Lincoln Memorial defeating Anderson on the other side of the regional, North Georgia will host the Super Regional next week.

NEXT UP
The Super Regional will start Thursday afternoon. Game times will be released and tickets will go on sale later this week.
