TUNNEL HILL, Ga. — Playing two men down, the East Hall boys rallied back to tie the game 1-1 before losing in overtime to Northwest Whitfield, 5-1, on the road in the semifinals of the Class 4A playoffs on the road.
The Vikings, a No. 4 seed out of Region 8-4A, trailed 1-0 after Northwest Whitfield scored on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute.
In the second half, the Vikings continue to create opportunities but were unable to tie the game, and with 13 minutes remaining in regulation, Justin Torres was tagged with a yellow card, forcing the Vikings to go a man down.
East Hall continue to fight, but in the same sequence, Jonathan Torres received a red card, leaving the Vikings two men down.
The Vikings, however, powered through the adversity and tied the game, 1-1, with seven minutes remaining, Ranferi Lara-Chavez headed home a free-kick to tie the game up at 1-1.
In the first overtime, Northwest Whitfield broke the tie with a finish after the ball was deflected numerous times inside the box. In the second overtime period, Northwest netted three goals en route to the win.
