A rabid cat was captured in Lawrenceville Tuesday, according to Gwinnett County Officials.
The cat attacked two adults in the area of East Crogan Street and Buford Drive. It was captured by the Lawrenceville Police Department while they were responding to an unrelated call. It was brought to Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement the same day.
The cat tested positive for the virus on Wednesday.
The county has asked residents to use caution and avoid any animals that are behaving in an unusual way. They also ask all pet owners to make sure their pet has a current rabies vaccination.
"According to the National Association of State Health Veterinarians, unvaccinated dogs and cats exposed to a rabid animal must be strictly quarantined for four months and vaccinated one month prior to being released," the release said.
