By AccessWDUN Staff

BUFORD — Victoria Bar and Katelyn White each scored two goals to lead the No. 1-ranked Buford girls to a dominating 8-0 win over Glynn Academy on Wednesday in the second round of the Class 6A soccer playoffs.

It’s the second consecutive season the Lady Wolves (20-0) have advanced to the Elite 8 round. They also remain the only unbeaten team in Class 6A.

After a back-and-forth affair for the first eight-plus minutes, Buford, the Region 8-6A champion, scored seven times in a 15-minute span to blow open a scoreless game to take a 7-0 lead at halftime.

Abbey Cumming scored on a penalty kick and Shae Owings also scored for Buford, which remains the only unbeaten team in Class 6A.

Also among Region 8-6A teams, the Habersham Central girls season came to an end in a 5-1 loss to No. 9 Richmond Hill on the road.

Buford next will play host to Chattahoochee in the quarterfinals on Monday.

JEFFERSON GIRLS 2,
COLUMBUS 1

The fourth-ranked Lady Dragons went on the road and knocked off No. 5 Columbus in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs.

The two teams were tied 1-1 at halftime on a penalty kick goal for Columbus and Jefferson goal from Abbey Eison. Ella Parker and Carter Drake both got assists on the play. The assist for Parker broke the school record for most assists in a single season, now standing at 15 on the season and counting..

But Parker one-upped herself in the second half scoring the game-winner with just under 11 minutes left in the match.

The defense held on from there.

Jefferson (12-3-1) next will travel to Luella on Monday.

UNION COUNTY GIRLS 4,
EAST LAURENS 1

For the first time since 2019 the Lady Panthers advanced to the quarterfinal of the Class 2A playoffs with a win over the Class 2A 10th-ranked Lady falcons.
