Adams named sole finalist for Habersham Emergency Services director

The training division chief of Habersham County Emergency Services has been named the sole finalist to lead the department.

Jeff Adams will start as the department's director on May 3.

"Mr. Adams has proved his dedication and leadership to Habersham County." County Manager Alician Vaughn said in a news release. "He has been incredibly influential in developing our Emergency Services department following the EMS and Fire merger in 2018." 

Adams holds an associate degree in biology from the University of North Georgia and a bachelor's degree in fire and emergency services administration from East Georgia College.

Adams is also a Georgia Emergency Medical Services Association 2017 Leadership Program graduate. He also earned his EMS Directors Certification in 2020. Adams also serves on the GEMSA Board, where he is the president of the educators' division.

He is a national registry paramedic, a National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians instructor, a Georgia Level III EMS instructor, a fire instructor and a structural fire control instructor.

All applicants for the position were allowed to complete a video interview. The selection committee narrowed the candidate pool to five candidates, who each came in for in-person interviews.

"The interview panel agreed that Mr. Adams was the right fit for this job." Human Resources Director Ann Cain said.
